Our Vacation Adventure to Cabo San Lucas Mexico – Day 1

OK, I get it! We’ve only been planning this trip since the first of January. The earliest I’ve ever booked a vacation since I’m inherently a procrastonator. We booked the resort in January and our flight in March. Everything was set and we just forgot about it.

Well, Lily said to me a couple of weeks ago “is everything set? You have the passports, right?” I replied “yep. I have all of them in our room and mine is in my backpack. No problem.”

I spent the last few days getting all of our documents together and confirming our flight, frequent flier numbers for all of us and confirming the reservation at the resort. Dammit! I should have looked at those passports. We headed to the airport today, went through TSA hell, got on our flight — NO PROBLEM!
Once in Phoenix (we needed to change planes threre), our passports were checked again and we got the shocking news! Tia and Maya’s passports expired on July 29, 2008! We were told that Mexico will not let us in and we were immediately sent back to San Jose. However, if they had expired while we were out of the country, the USA would let us come back.

I’m writing this on my PDA on Saturday night in San Jose. We have a 10AM appointment at the passport office in San Francisco on Monday morning and then the airline is supposed to fly us back. We’ll see how that goes.
In the mean time, I’ll keep the blog informed about our exciting trip.

AB2270 Bill Passes Legislature, Only a Veto Can Stop It Now

Dear Friend,

UPDATE on AB 2270, the bill that could allow unelected bureaucrats to ban water softeners in your home and your neighborhood. The bill has moved from the legislature and now sits on the Governor’s desk and we need your help in letting the Governor know the risks involved in this bill.

AB 2270 is bad policy that must be stopped. This bill violates property rights and would allow government to come into one’s home and remove an appliance. Banning and removing home water softeners will not solve California’s water salinity problems.

Call Governor Schwarzenegger TODAY at 916-445-2841 OR click here to email his office. Tell the Governor to “VETO AB 2270 and Save My Softener” or you may use the suggested text below.

As my Governor, I urge you to vote NO on AB 2270.

If passed, this bill would cause environmental harm (hard water requires more soap and detergent for all cleaning applications, directly putting more chemicals back into the environment).

Also, this bill would allow the government to intrude into a private residence and remove an appliance.

California has more important problems to solve at the moment…please VETO AB 2270!

Site Primer

I have been doing a lot of work on the millcreekneighbors.org website and got to thinking that maybe it would be helpful if I documented how to use the site. I’ll update this as I think of more things to add to it.
First of all you must be registered to create a post or leave a comment. You don’t have to just comment on the posts that are already on the site. I moved the Register/Login links closer to the top as well as adding a Login/Logout button to the top menu. There is a minimal amount of information required to register. Mainly your name and email address. You can add additional information if you like. Follow these steps to register…

When you visit the site, be sure to Login. The login link is located under the Register link and will replace the Register link when you are logged in. In addition, a Site Admin link will be located there as well.

You can save the post without publishing it under Publish Status or select Publish from the drop-down and Save it as Published ↩
You can include HTML in your post using the buttons at the top of the editor ↩
You can also attach media to your post such as mp3′s, photos’s and video clips using the Add Media buttons ↩
